Want to make a difference in a child's life and travel to a foreign country? Volunteer with WorldTeach Namibia and you will be given the opportunity to teach English, Mathematics and/or Science through a partnership with the Namibian Ministry of Education.
Volunteer placements exist in a wide range of schools, from primary to secondary schools, from rural to more urban. The majority of volunteers are placed at government schools, in rural areas where there the greatest shortage of qualified teachers. In addition to teaching at least one core subject (English, Math or Science), volunteers are usually assigned additional elective courses to teach, such as Physical Education, Art, Health and Computer Studies. In addition to their subject teaching, interested volunteers are also encouraged to serve as HIV/AIDS Resource Teachers.
Volunteers assigned to teach English as a Second or Foreign Language are eligible to receive WorldTeach TEFL certification through our accredited certification program.
Volunteers will depart in late December 2013 for orientation, and must dedicate 12 months in service. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until October 15, 2013.
The volunteer commitment covers roundtrip airfare, health and evacuation insurance, housing, and monthly stipend to cover basic living expenses.
The year long program requires volunteers to be between the ages of 18 and 74 by the departure date. Volunteers must also have a Bachelor's degree (in any subject) and demonstrate a desire to teach. Volunteers need not be a US citizen, but must be a native English speaker.
