Volunteer Junior Web Developer

The Asian Pacific Community Fund (APCF) seeks a creative and hard-working volunteer experienced with Joomla! web development to join our tight-knit team. We are looking for someone who is committed to the Asian and Pacific Islander community and has a passion for communicating the services and opportunities APCF and its affiliate agencies provide to those in need.

Who We Are:

Established in 1990, the Asian Pacific Community Fund is a community-based, nonprofit fund that was created to educate and encourage individuals and companies to support API communities in need by donating through workplace giving programs. The organization is the only API community-based fund of its kind in Southern California. Since its founding, APCF has raised and distributed $2 million in unrestricted grants to its 29 Affiliate Agencies providing services to the API community. APCF Affiliate Agencies serve over 250,000 people annually with programs and services provided in a total of 27 Asian languages plus English and Spanish. Programs include childcare/youth programs, affordable housing, counseling & case management,

healthcare, job development & training, legal services, senior services, violence prevention and much more.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with staff members to help plan, design and enhance the APCF website.
  • Make recommendations for website improvements including load times, security, SEO, and more.
  • Help maintain existing website code and streamline back-end processes.
  • Increase exposure of website to search engine searches using keywords, tags, and SEO.
  • Expected time commitments: 5-10 hours/week. In-office or remote. Very flexible hours.

Skills:

  • Experience and expertise with Joomla! CMS.
  • Proficiency with HTML, CSS, PHP, web standards, and a commitment to keeping up with current web technologies.
  • Excellent knowledge of Components, Modules, and Security.
  • Troubleshoot website issues.
  • Streamline site mapping and ease of access to visitors.
  • Familiarity with:
    • SEO
    • Social media
  • Self-starter with strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and coordinate project with maturity, initiative and timeliness.
  • Attention to detail is a must.

Preferred:

  • Experience designing web banners, backgrounds, icons, and other web graphics
