Tearfund's Global Volunteering Team are recruiting volunteers for our teams participating in Tearfund ICS (International Citizen Service) to depart in September 2016 or January 2017
Tearfund is a Christian development charity working to end poverty and social injustice in some of the poorest countries in the world. Our vision is to see over 50 million people released from material and spiritual poverty by 2016 using a network of 100 000 local churches.
Tearfund ICS is a 12 week, government-funded volunteer placement for 18-35 year olds that provides the opportunity to make a difference in local communities in some of the poorest places in the world. The Tearfund programme is unique as we work closely through local church partners who have requested the help of ICS teams as part of our larger development scheme for that community. There is therefore no doubt that your contribution will make a difference.
We have two ICS destinations: Bangladesh and South Africa. You could be helping to tackle issues such as: climate change, water and sanitation, HIV, gender inequality and lack of education by volunteering alongside incountry volunteers on a range of projects from: teaching, construction, agriculture, HIV prevention work, sports coaching, creative arts, children and youth work etc
The great thing about the ICS placement is that you don't need any particular skills, qualifications or cash. All you need is an ambition to make a difference! However volunteers do need to be between 18-25 to 'volunteer' or between 23-30 to 'lead' a team and be a UK citizen, an EEA citizen or have indefinite leave to remain in the UK. If you are not a UK citizen you must be able to show proof of residence in the UK for the past 12 months
When applying please tick Tearfund as your preferred charity to travel with.
