LUKMEF-Cameroon is an NGO working inn Cameroon for the past 13 years. We do not charge fee for our volunteer positions. We are in the process of starting a rural electrification initiative and so will require the helping hand of a highly qualified and self motivated volunteer to design and begin the implementation of the project. The volunteer will work to understand the available legal framework and current actors in the renewable energy ( with focus on solar) in Cameroon. Conduct a need assessment in some rural communities; seek collaborative partnerships with local and international organisations and investors to begin providing small solar lighting systems to rural families, schools and hospitals.
The project manager will then help to set-up a renewable energy training centre in Cameroon where youths and other motivated individuals will be trained on the functionality, assembly, installation and maintenance of renewable energy plants such as solar, micro hydros, wind farms etc
Larger solar projects may also be initiated to pump water to support farmers as well as to pump water to rural homes, schools and hospital either from far off water sources of from boreholes.
While we may be able to provide some low cost/rural community housing to volunteers, we will give priority position approval to volunteers who can afford the full cost of their stay in Cameroon.
