About Sustainable Silicon Valley (SSV): SSV is leading Silicon Valley to a more sustainable future through collaboration with local government agencies, businesses, and community organizations to identify and address these highest-priority environmental issues. We do this by engaging prominent Valley organizations to proactively work toward self-imposed goals of reducing regional CO2 emissions and water use --and helping them translate those goals into measurable results.
About the position: The Business Development Associate will join our Business Development Team which is responsible for expanding our partner network. The Associate will be responsible for outreach to specific prospective partners and current partners, and for attending our weekly team meeting (in-person or via conference line) with our Executive Director.
We are interested in meeting candidates who bring interpersonal and effective follow-through skills and who are interested in addressing environmental and/or sustainability issues. It is preferred that the candidate has his/her own laptop and communications tools.
This is a volunteer position, which offers qualified candidates the opportunity to prove their capabilities in a non-profit organization environment engaging with Bay Area companies of all sizes in the field of sustainability. The ideal candidate should commit a minimum of 10-20 hours per week working remotely or at the SSV Santa Clara office location. It would be ideal for the candidate to be able to attend the weekly team meeting in person.

Duties and Responsibilities: ● Networking and following through to establish new partner relationships. ● Helping to improve business development processes, workflow, tools, and performance reporting. ● Learning about and understanding SSV's efforts towards sustainability. ● Maintaining confidentiality in all aspects of partner, staff and organizational information.
Qualities and Skills Preferred: ● Interpersonal skills for phone calls and in person meetings with partners and prospects. ● Good written communication skills for emails with partners and colleagues. ● Ability to collaborate in a team setting and contribute to team goals. ● Strong time management, planning and organization skills. ● Attention to detail in order to ensure accuracy of customer relationship management system. ● Resourceful and able to find creative solutions, thinking beyond current systems and approaches toward continual improvement.
● Comfort with learning new software programs.
