MANDO is seeking an experienced volunteer fundraiser to support us in making written applications to trusts, foundations, and other grant-making bodies. This is an exciting opportunity to help transform the lives of some of the world's most vulnerable, disadvantaged and stigmatised children.
MANDO is a young, rapidly growing nonprofit charity whose aim is to address huge challenges in the southern Rift Valley of Kenya. We work with local partners in to provide vital support to help with adjustment on clean water, educational support and at the same time overcome root causes of poverty, introduce sustainable methods of subsistance, improve education and gender equality. We also run community education programmes in order to reduce and prevent the abuse of children, and we campaign at the national and international levels for improved protection of children's rights.
We are seeking a volunteer with a good track record of grant and trusts and foundation fundraising, who can commit to a minimum of one day per week for 6 months. The role is extremely flexible and we understand that it would need to fit in around your other commitments. You can either be home-based or based in our office in Kenya. The role is unpaid but reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed for travel to the office.
Identifying and researching potential donors and sources of funding including trusts, foundations and institutional donors
Maintaining and updating the trusts and foundations database
Developing relationships with grant-giving organisations
Writing, editing and proofreading proposals for restricted and unrestricted funding
Experience of securing funding for charities from trusts, foundations and/or institutional donors
Excellent writing and admin skills
Commitment to the aims and principles of MANDO
Organised and efficient
Knowledge of children's rights and/or international development
