Long-term AmeriCorps Members (August 2013-August 2014) needed to serve in an Eastern Kentucky residential facility serving female domestic violence survivors and their children. Volunteers may teach classes, provide transportation, do community education or plan activities for children living in the center. Some weekend and holiday shifts required.
Christian Appalachian Project (CAP) is a nonprofit human services organization serving people in need in Appalachia. Long-term volunteers with CAP receive room and board, a monthly stipend, health insurance, vacation time, a potential AmeriCorps Education Award of up to $5,550, and potential student loan deferment. Minimum age to volunteer is 18.
