Run your own Exponential Education program! Build, manage and create programs throughout various regions in Ghana.
Our Volunteers/Interns will play a large role in building, managing and reporting on current programs. Depending on your availability and length of stay, you may be required to help expand our program, meet with headmasters, teachers and students, qualify and target struggling students, build lesson plans, grade tests, create grading rubrics, give leadership workshops, train students, provide critical thinking activities, buy snacks and materials, report findings and scores and check up on partner programs. If desired, you can also start your own research project under our guidance, and we will be able to connect you with contacts relevant to your research.
The position will emphasize a few different experiments per each program (adding more women and monitoring improvement, adding more snacks, etc) to maximize our program, and it will also emphasize a focus on teaching critical thinking (which is not instilled in public school systems within West Africa).
Interns/Volunteers will work or be engaged in our program about 25-30 hours per week between courses, research, reporting, monitoring, managing and building programs. More or less time can easily be requested.
We are currently taking Interns/Volunteers between May20th - September 20th. Dates of availability are flexible, as you can come for a few weeks or a few months. In order to run your own program, we ask and assist you in fund raising $700 to do so. All funds go directly into our program, and give you the opportunity to help educate and provide better futures to over 30 children. We include housing and courses providing an introduction to culture and education policy in Ghana and West Africa, relevant research related meetings with other NGOs, Professors and Peace Corp Volunteers.
To apply, please send an email toexponentialeducationprogram@gmail.comor hgradstein@utexas.edu . Include a cover letter, your resume and dates of availability. We are taking Interns between May20th - September 20th, and prefer that Interns come on the 20th of each month, but are open to flexible times. Please also indicate in your cover letter specific research interests or program preferences, and we will try to customize your internship/volunteer experience to you.
