Duwamish Alive! The King Conservation District will host a project site for the bi-annual Duwamish Alive event on April 20th from 10-2pm. The Duwamish Alive Coalition began in 2006 when the communities of Delridge, Highland Park, South Park, White Center, and Georgetown came together under the coalition name of Duwamish Alive! to share resources to clean up and restore the Duwamish River. Communities, municipalities, non-profits and businesses are working together to restore the health and habitat of the river for both the community and wildlife. Multiple collaborators will host volunteer events at restoration sites throughout the Duwamish. For more details visit: www.duwamishalive.org
Join the King Conservation District (King CD) at the Brandon Street Natural Area, a Seattle Park along Longfellow Creek. Longfellow Creek is one of the last salmon bearing streams left in Seattle. Bring a friend and meet new people while helping maintain trails, remove invasive species or planting native trees and shrubs.
King CD will provide gloves, tools, water and light refreshments as well as volunteer orientation and project background. Projects take place outdoors so please come prepared for the weather with sturdy shoes.
