Volunteer Internist/Family Practitioner/Pediatrician

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Volunteer Internist/Family Practitioner/Pediatrician will function as one of the primary care pediatric providers for Mary's Center.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • INTERNIST

Education and/or Experience – Must possess a M.D. or D.O. degree and a current licensed to practice Medicine in the District of Columbia. Board Certification in Internal Medicine preferable. A minimum of two (2) years of practicing medicine in a community health clinic environment and/or experience in working with immigrant or economically-disadvantage populations in a maternal/child healthcare setting highly desirable. A thorough understanding and knowledge of patient confidentiality issues and HIPAA compliance/regulations are essential. Bilingualism in Spanish and English preferred.

  • FAMILY PRACTITIONER

Education and/or Experience – Must possess a M.D. or D.O. degree and a current licensed to practice Medicine in the Maryland State. Board Certification/eligibility in Family Medicine preferable. A minimum of two (2) years of practicing medicine in a community health clinic environment and/or experience in working with immigrant or economically-disadvantage populations in a maternal/child healthcare setting highly desirable. Bilingualism in Spanish and English highly preferable. A thorough understanding and knowledge of patient confidentiality issues and HIPAA compliance/regulations are essential.

  • PEDIATRICIAN

Education and/or Experience – Must possess a M.D. or D.O. degree and a current license to practice Medicine in the District of Columbia and Maryland. A board certification and/or eligibility in Pediatrics are preferable. A minimum of two (2) years of practicing pediatrics medicine in a community health clinic environment and/or experience in working with immigrant or economically-disadvantaged populations in a maternal/child healthcare setting highly desirable. A thorough understanding and knowledge of patient confidentiality issues and HIPAA compliance/regulations are essential. Bilingualism in Spanish and English preferred.

Reasoning Ability – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out highly-complex, multi-step instructions and make appropriate independent decisions as necessary

Physical Demands – Regularly required to sit; frequently required to reach with hands and arms, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk or hear; must be able to lift objects up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Work Environment – Mostly in a typical outpatient medical office/clinic setting with quite to moderate noise level. May be exposed to potentially-hazardous blood-borne/respiratory pathogens and bodily fluids which require the practice of Universal Precaution procedures.
