Gain valuable teaching experience while learning about Buddhism and authentic Thai culture first hand.The WDSP is a cultural exchange opportunity where particpants have the chance to live in a Buddhist temple and teach conversational English to Buddhist monks. We are working with eighteen temples and three government schools (Thai public schools) in Northern Thailand. Outside of teaching and observing daily Buddhist life, our staff works very hard to bring volunteers to a wide variety of locations in order to expose them to many sights and sounds and hopefully gain an understanding of Thai culture as well as Buddhism in Thailand.
This is a very serious ESL (english as a second language) program and the project has its own custom currciulum geared entirely for conversation and speech. We provide all teaching resources and lesson planning support.
