The Minnesota Literacy Council recruits and supports volunteer tutors and teachers in adult literacy programs. These programs offer free classes for new immigrants and refugees, as well as life-long Minnesotans, who are learning basic English, math or computer skills, or studying for the GED.
Volunteers can work at one of five learning centers in the Twin Cities teaching or assisting with a range of English as a Second Language (ESL), GED, and employment readiness classes. All five sites offer basic, beginner, intermediate, and advanced ESL classes. Curriculum and support are provided for all teaching and co-teaching opportunities.
