The English Learning Center is a program of Our Saviour's Community Services, a community-based nonprofit. We provide English (ESL), math, citizenship, computer and reading classes as well as advocacy to adult immigrants and refugees in the Phillips neighborhood of South Minneapolis. Currently the English Learning Center serves nearly 400 adult students each year. It has become a well-known community center for immigrants and refugees from all around the world. We are a volunteer-based organization: over 100 volunteers teach all the program classes. Our classes meet in the morning and evening. Morning English classes meet Monday-Thursdays, from 9:30-11:45am. AM Math class meets Wednesdays from 12-1pm. AM Computer Class meets Mondays from 12-1pm. AM Citizenship meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12-1. PM English classes meet from 6:45-8:30pm. Citizenship, Math, Computer, and Reading Circle meets 5:30-6:30pm.
We seek PM Computer Lab Volunteers for the following times:
Monday-Thursday 8:00-9:15 am
Monday-Tuesday: 4:30-6:30 pm
Wednesday-Thursday: 4:30-5:30 pm
Computer Lab volunteers will assist in our lab, as students have open computer lab. They will be available to help students with questions that may arrive during the time in the lab. Our lab usually has 5-10 students. Our school runs Monday-Thursday and tutors are asked to assist one day a week.
