GED teachers instruct low-income neighborhood adults in high school level classes to prepare them to take the GED official exam. Volunteer teachers must commit to one 2 hour class per week for a 12 week semester. Subjects include: Science , Math, Reading/Writing and Social Studies . You may sign up for either ONE morning session (10:30-1pm Monday-Thursday ) or ONE evening session (6-8pm Monday-Thursday). Strong English skills are required, as well as an interest in teaching, energy, motivation, and commitment to get involved and make a positive difference in the community. Teachers are required to attend at least 3 training sessions on Friday evenings during the term. No experience is necessary though some teaching preferred. You must either have a college degree or be currently matriculating at an accredited college.
The Fall 2011 semester runs from Oct. 3rd to Dec. 8th 2011. Teachers are recruited on a rolling basis, so send your resume in today!
