VOLUNTEERS URGENTLY NEEDED AT MANNAN TRIBE PROJECT- SOUTH INDIA

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROJECT - Western Ghat Mountains, South India

We need volunteers for the building and sanitation project to START FEBRUARY/MARCH/APRIL 2013 onwards throughout the year. START DATES ARE FLEXIBLE (means you can apply online and we'll contact you with details and project start dates)

About the Project : We need volunteers to take over the current sanitation project and also start a new house renovation/building project. We are looking for individuals or groups of volunteers to take part in this project.

This ongoing project aids the tribal community by providing sanitation facilities to be built from scratch with suitable water supply and waste disposal systems. The volunteers will help with all development activities and work with local masons and tribals. All building materials and additional labour will be sourced locally.

It's a challenging project that requires volunteers to be resourceful, committed, self motivated and will definitely involve plenty of excitement and fun. You will be involved in planning, organising and building activities with the help of a team of volunteers, local labourers and members of the community. Please note that the project area is set in the lush mountains of South India and all basic facilities will be provided by Yearoutindia. Amenities like Internet, ATM's, mobile reception, Fax etc are only available at the nearest town, which is 20 Km away.

Program Costs:

Fair Program Fee Policy Prices for individual programs vary based on number of volunteers on site and project needs. On average, a 4 week ALL inclusive placement fee is between GBP £550 - £650 (USD $875-$1050). On site, once the actual project costs are worked out for each placement, volunteers manage the funds spent directly on the project. Yearoutindia cost based fees are by far the most fair & inclusive of any volunteer placement by any organisation in India. We are a not-for-profit volunteer run volunteering organisation very different from the many other commercial gap year companies. The volunteer service program fee is used to support the volunteer, the local projects and the service program overall. The service program fee for volunteering service programs in South India INCLUDES Orientation, All food (3-4 meals a day), all bottled water, Accommodation, Project travel + a lot more based on individual program requirements. The balance goes towards other projects and maintenance. Volunteers will also assist the YOI staff in managing the funds and paying daily wages and materials needed for the building work etc.
