Volunteer Opportunity description

Long-term AmeriCorps Member (August 2013-August 2014) needed to serve in Christian Appalachian Project's Eagle Child and Family Development and Community Center in the SPARK (Scholastic Preparation, Arts, & Recreation for Kids) after-school program for children and teens. The volunteer will also go into public schools to provide tutoring, and may assist in CAP's preschool when needed. During the summer, this volunteer will work with center staff to develop field trips and other summer activities for children and teens.

Christian Appalachian Project is a nonprofit human service organization serving people in need in Appalachia. Long-term volunteers receive room and board, a monthly stipend, health insurance, vacation time, a potential AmeriCorps Education Award of up to $5,550, and potential student loan deferment. This position requires a volunteer who is 21 or older with a good driving record.
