Part of the Solution (POTS) is a 'one-stop shop' for social services in the Bronx that nourishes the basic needs and hungers of all who come to our door.
POTS' Community Dining Room ('soup kitchen'), is the heart and soul of the organization. We provide hot, healthful fare, served to guests' tables in a bright, airy space that feels more like a neighborhood café than a traditional soup kitchen. Meal service takes place every day from 12:30-3:30 pm in a fun, fast-paced, interactive environment.
POTS relies on volunteers to help run our Community Dining Room, which feeds an average of 325 guests per day. Volunteers are asked to sign up in advance, should be at least 14 yrs old & do many of the tasks that they would do at a restaurant, with the exception of any cooking. Designed to resemble a café, POTS Dining Room guests are greeted at the door by a hostess, seated at small tables decorated with seasonal centerpieces and tablecloths, and their meals are served by volunteers. Working together, POTS staff & volunteers ensure that while they are with us, our guests are provided with a dignified environment and treated with respect.
POTS is open seven days a week and needs help from 9-12 for morning meal prep and from 12-4 for lunch service.
