Volunteer Opportunity description

Literacy Source has been providing adult literacy services in the Seattle area since 1986. Our mission is to build a literate community and promote self-sufficiency in adult learners though English literacy and basic life skills We offer instruction in Adult Basic Education (reading, writing, and math), English as a Second Language (ESL), computer skills, and citizenship and civics. Literacy Source also partricipates in an individualized high school diploma program available to adults 21 and older.

We have many volunteer opportunities available at our Fremont center.

- One-on-one tutors for reading, writing, math, computers, and citizenship (1.5hrs per wk. Flexible times, Mon - Thurs, 9:30a - 8:30p)

- Classroom co-instructors for citizenship, ESL, math, and more (1.5hrs per wk. Various times, Mon - Thurs, 9:30a - 8:30p)

- Evening Office Managers (Mon - Thurs, 6- 8:30 pm)

Interested in knowing more? Please join us for a new volunteer orientation every first Wednesday of the month at our Fremont center (address below). Orientation sessions are held at 1pm and 7pm, last about one hour, and do not require registration. We hope to see you there!
