Volunteers play an essential role at Awamaki, as their work makes an enormous difference in our programs and in the lives of our women. Volunteers have the opportunity to gain essential experience in business administration, fair trade, social enterprise, ethical sourcing and design, marketing & communications, and non-profit management.
As a Communications and Marketing volunteer, you can expect to:
Located in the scenic Inca town and tourist destination of Ollantaytambo, Cusco, Peru, Awamaki is a Peruvian and U.S. 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that women's economic empowerment and community development through fair trade artisan cooperatives, sustainable tourism operations, and local community education.
Volunteer Program Costs
The current Awamaki volunteer fee for 3-month and 6-month volunteers is a one-time payment made prior to arrival of $1,392. Because Awamaki is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in the United States, the majority -- $820 --is considered a donation and is tax-deductible in the United States to the extent allowed by law. As recognition of the value and importance of long-term volunteers, $700 is refunded upon completion of 6 months as an Awamaki volunteer. For a more detailed breakdown please email email@example.com.
