Volunteer Program in Haiti for Medical Students, CNAs

  • Kenscoff, Département de l'Ouest, Haiti

Save Their Lives provides medical services to rural and marginalized urban populations in l'artibonite. You will learn about NGOs-run healthcare systems and join them as they promote healthy lifestyles and work toward disease prevention.

As a volunteer, you will perform meet & greet at information desk and surgical waiting areas. Also help at gift shop, recovery, assist on units, clerical support, patient liaisons, observe procedures and assist the medical staff in seeing patients.

Interact with patients Learn about the health issues common in l'artibonite. Understand and support the services of multiple departments of the health center including general medicine, obstetrics, and the laboratory Rural communities in the l'Artibonite region are difficult to access, so healthcare is not always available to the people living there. Volunteers increase the scope and services we can offer rural communities.

Volunteer on our Medical Assistance Projects in Haiti and help with the incredible shortage of skilled and unskilled workers in the over-stretched health care service. The services in Haiti are severely stretched and there is a need for more staff at hospitals and clinics to help cope with the demand of an ever growing population. Services are provided to the young, old and everyone in between, and medical assistance volunteers are much needed to help to give a basic level of service to Haiti's citizens, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Cost is US$ 400.00/week. You will pay less if you plan to spend more weeks.

Volunteers will live in a clean and safe guesthouse. Long-term volunteers will also live at the same location. All programs include housing, shared bath and three meals per day. Haiti is known for its Creole cuisine. Pepper is popular.

What's included? Room, daily meals, health and travel insurance, Onsite transportation and airport pickup/ drop off Project funding and support Cultural and adventure excursions 24-hour support from Save Their Lives staff unlimited bottled water, wireless internet 100 minutes/week to call the USA, Canada and Mexico.
