Volunteer Opportunity description

The National MS Society's Mass Distribution team will be painting the city in Society materials. The team's responsibility is to ensure that our event's promotional materials are visible in store fronts and to retail customers. Our goal is to catch someone's attention and turn them into an event participant.

  • Be able to pick up promotional materials from the New York City or White Plains office.
  • Be able to carry a bag with materials and walk from store to store.
  • Be knowledgeable about general event details.
  • Be analytical and decide which retail locations are suitable for an event's demographics.
  • Interact with retail store and business owners to request permission to place promotional materials in their store fronts.
  • Place rack card holders and rack cards in the community.
  • Place event posters in the community.
  • Request business cards and keep track of retail locations that materials are placed in.

Volunteers will be distributing information about Climb to the Top 2013 and Walk MS 2013.

Climb to the Top is a unique event where participants climb 66 flights of stairs to the Top of the Rock™ Observation Deck in Rockefeller Center and experience an amazing view of the Manhattan skyline on Sunday March 3, 2013. This is a timed event, so challenge yourself to see how fast you can climb to the top! 1,500 participants will climb 66 flights of stairs to help create a world free of multiple sclerosis. The New York City - Southern New York Chapter will be hosting seven different Walk MS 2013 events located in Manhattan and Staten Island and in Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Orange and Sullivan counties on April 27- April 28, 2013.
