Leyendo! or Reading! Is a targeted, high impact student service initiative that mobilizes volunteer tutors and mentors to help the district's neediest English Language Learners. The program offers volunteer tutoring and mentoring to support the academic and social needs of of 2nd and 3rd grade ELL students at Carl Lauro Elementary School . Volunteers will support the acquisition of students' targeted academic skills while serving as social role models/mentors.
We need 25 bilingual volunteers are needed immediately to tutor 50 2nd and 3rd grade students at Carl Lauro Elementary in Providence's Federal Hill Neighborhood. Volunteers will be trained and supported to tutor one group of two 2nd or 3rd grade students over the course of course of the school year for a minimum of two hours a week. Volunteers will deliver reading support activities as well as mentoring to this group of students.
