Literacy Programs of New Jersey wants you! Make a difference TODAY and volunteer to change someone's life.
LPNJ is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to enable adult native speakers of English, and those whose native language is not English, to acquire the necessary basic skills in reading, speaking and writing English, thereby empowering them to participate more fully in the daily tasks of family, school, job, and community. Register for our tutor training workshop and give back to the community, truly making a difference in the daily life of someone else.
The Tutor Training Workshop is a 12 hour course held at local libraries throughout Middlesex County. Tutors are trained in the main principles of adult literacy education, which are broken into the following categories: Listening Skills, Speaking Skills, Reading Skills and Writing Skills. After successfully completing the Tutor Training Workshop, certificates are awarded and the tutor is placed with a student or small group of students.
No previous tutoring experience is required. If you are 18 years of age or older, able to speak, read and write in English and are commited to making a difference, then YOU can tutor.
