Emergency Housing Volunteers

Posted on: December 26, 2012

Posted by: Vermont 2-1-1

Description

People with a strong desire to help Vermonters who are homeless will want to volunteer as a housing volunteer. Vermont 2-1-1 administers the after-hours emergency housing program and volunteers are always needed in the evenings to support Housing Specialists. Housing volunteers help by answering the phones, taking messages, completing calls and gathering preliminary information from callers for emergency housing requests. As emergency housing calls are considered "crisis" calls, volunteers with a calm demeanor and experience with Vermont's housing service providers is a plus. Emergency Housing volunteers typically support Housing specialists from 4pm to 6pm M-F.
