Volunteer Opportunity description

Want to make a life-saving difference for homeless cats and dogs? Consider volunteering at PAWS Chicago, the city's largest No Kill animal shelter.

PAWS Chicago is a national model in sheltering, committed to bringing an end to the killing of homeless cats and dogs in our community, and volunteers play an invaluable role in nearly every aspect of our life-saving efforts. PAWS Chicago offers a wide variety of volunteer opportunities within each of our programs so that volunteers can bring personal expertise from their own backgrounds to enable us to save more lives. There are a number of volunteer opportunities available at our Adoption Center, Rescue & Recovery Center and Lurie/Spay Neuter Clinic.

At PAWS Chicago's Adoption Center, located in the heart of Lincoln Park, opportunities focus on caring for and socializing cats and dogs, and getting to know potential adopters and providing them with the educational information and resources to help them find their perfect match. Rescue & Recovery volunteers focus on animal care, animal transport, customer service, intake, prepping pets for adoption and assisting in our owner relinquishment and foster programs. Lurie Spay/Neuter Clinic volunteers assist the PAWS Chicago team to operate a high volume spay/neuter clinic through customer service and pre/post-surgical support.

With no financial support from federal, state or local government agencies, PAWS Chicago relies on the support of volunteers who provide every cat and dog with the highest quality treatment and enrichment while in our program. Volunteers make it possible to save the lives or more homeless pets each year.
