Volunteers can work in a specific area or rotate through the broad spectrum of job areas. Duties include: collect and sort donated items, price items to be sold, arrange items in the sales area and check customers out. Ability to lift small containers weighing less than 20 lbs. Orientation and training provided. Incumbent should be available for a minimum of two hours and normally will not work more than 16 hours a week. Reimbursement for childcare and round trip mileage expenses provided.
The general Thrift Shop Volunteer is responsible for performing a variety of tasks in NMCRS Thrift Shops. Volunteers can work in a specific area, or rotate through the broad spectrum of job areas. The work is performed under the supervision of the Chairman of Thrift Shop who will assign tasks on an "as needed" basis.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
¨ Collect and sort donated items.
¨ Designate for disposal those items not suitable for sale.
¨ Price items to be sold.
¨ Arrange items in the sales area.
¨ Log in clients.
¨ Assist in special sales.
¨ Check customers out, recording purchases in log.
¨ Maintain cash receipts records.
¨ Maintain record of hours worked.
QUALIFICATIONS:
¨ Graduation from NMCRS Orientation.
¨ Ability to work with variety of personalities, both among clients and peers.
¨ Ability to lift small containers weighing less than 20 lbs.

TIME COMMITMENT:
The incumbent should be available for a minimum three hours twice a month, and normally will not work more than 16 hours a week. Volunteers who have not previously served in NMCRS Thrift Shops are asked to commit for an initial period of three months to allow them, and the COV, to assess the correct match of job with Volunteer. This commitment may be continually renewed in minimum increments of three months.
