Volunteer Opportunity description

Crisis Clinic volunteers provide confidential and compassionate support as phone workers on the 24-Hour Crisis Line. Our volunteers serve in a highly skilled and structured capacity, empowering callers to make positive life changes. Volunteer phone workers acquire advanced communication skills, on-going mentoring and enjoy a meaningful form of community service. Crisis Line volunteers gain valuable experience in the counseling and human service profession.

Volunteers commit to serving on one weekly phone shift for a minimum of twelve months and must be at least 21 years old. Prospective volunteers complete a multi-staged application process and complete 58 hours of interactive professional training. Training topics include, crisis intervention, addictions, mental health, suicide intervention, relationship abuse and grief and loss.
