NatureBridge's Hike-A-Thon takes place on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Temescal Gateway Park in Pacific Palisades. This awareness-builder and fundraiser runs from 10A-2P. Volunteers are needed for set up, registration, and breakdown shifts: 8-11, 11-2, 12-3.
NatureBridge's second annual Hike-A-Thon will only be successful with the support of passionate, dedicated volunteers. Volunteer Opportunities for the Hike-A-Thon include:
SET-UP CREW
Set-up volunteers post signage along the Hike-A-Thon route, put out decorations, set up food, line and spread out trash bins, and set up check-in and vendor tables/chairs before the Hike-A-Thon starts. Without you, the event doesn't happen. If you like to do physical work, are good at lifting and carrying, and don't mind a little sweat, we need you for this job!
REGISTRATION VOLUNTEER
As the first person to greet participants on the day of the event, your smile and energy are the keys to making the Hike-A-Thon a positive experience for every participant. You are responsible for checking in registered hikers and registering hikers on site. If you are energetic and love to smile and greet new people (lots of people!), we need you!
FUND PROCESSOR
Fund collectors are the highly responsible individuals who receive and process donations turned in by participants on the day of the Hike-A-Thon. These individuals must be good at math, know how to work with a calculator and Excel file, and have experience handling monetary transactions.
EXPO BOOTH VOLUNTEER
Distribute information and giveaways at the event. This role requires someone with great organizational, leadership and communication skills. Someone who has a lot of energy, loves to smile, and likes being in the middle of all the fun would make an excellent EXPO Booth volunteer.
FLOATERS
Floaters are volunteers who "float" throughout the registration area, directing hikers to the registration desk, assisting participants in turning in funds, directing team members to their special team area, pointing out the location of restrooms and refreshments, and answering whatever questions come up along the way. If you are an outgoing and energetic person with great communication skills, we need you!
STRIKE CREW
Strike Crew volunteers take down signage along the Hike-A-Thon route, remove decorations, pack up food/beverages, consolidate and remove trash and recycling, and breakdown chairs and tables. Strike Crew volunteers are responsible for making sure the trail and the park look as beautiful at the end as they did before the Hike-A-Thon started. If you like to do physical work, are good at lifting and carrying, and don't mind a little sweat, we need you for this job!
Comfortable hiking attire recommended. Age 16+ preferred. Community Service Credit available.
