Web Developer

Canopy's mission is to improve the academic achievement of orphans attending secondary school in Tanzania so they have a better chance of leading a secure life and contributing to the country's economic productivity and social development.

Our program objectives, in support of our mission, are to:
• Improve performance on secondary school national exams by orphans;
• Increase the number of orphans that graduate from secondary school; and,
• Increase the number of orphans who are able to obtain jobs post-graduation and become productive members of Tanzania's economy.

Responsibilities include:

• Web design, editing, maintenance, and support of www.canopygroup.org;
• Ensure content on the website is up-to-date, correctly branded, easily accessible and of high quality;
• Assist other members of the Canopy Group team to develop specialty online and print materials;
• Analyze use of the website and recommend ways to improve user experience and increase traffic;
• Promote and market the site using online techniques, such as social networking;
• Create final designs and layouts, and suggest improvements as needed; and
• Estimated time commitment per week is 5-10 hours, which will vary depending on project deadlines

• Passionate, self motivated and a team player;
• Be willing to push the envelope with new technologies;
• Have a firm understanding of digital media and support technologies; and
• Have knowledge of emerging tools and platforms for content distribution.
