Interights – Impact Assessment Coordinator (Volunteer)

Interights is developing a methodology to measure the impact of its strategic litigation work in order to enhance Interights' ability to improve and learn. This work was informed by a detailed research report in 2012 and now Interights is part way through embedding this approach throughout its work. Current we are also working with a University to look back at some of our cases to analyse our precise contribution and the real effect of the case on human rights.

We need someone to co-ordinate this task between now and the end of August (and beyond) and to contribute to developing this at the level of theory and practice. This would involve:

  • Continuing to develop Interights' theory of change
  • Considering how this impact assessment can assist our work with other partners
  • Developing a timetable to ensure that our report on progress is delivered on time
  • Assisting in the drafting of the report
  • Assisting the Executive Director of Interights, who is responsible for delivery of this project, to ensure proper progress

We are looking for someone who can spend 2 – 5 days with us for a minimum of three months. We can be flexible with days and some of the work could be carried out at home. This is an unpaid position but we will reimburse your out of pocket expenses of a travel card zone 1-6 and up to £5 a day for lunch. You will be required to provide receipts before you can claim for these expenses.

You must have the right to work in the UK to apply for this opportunity.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Experience of using Microsoft Word and Excel;
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to pay attention to detail
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and to seek support when necessary
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Sensitivity to working in a multicultural environment
  • Commitment to Interights values

It would be helpful if you had some knowledge of:

  • Litigation;
  • Human rights; or
  • Politics or Social Science.

Skills and Experience to be gained:

  • Knowledge of human rights and strategic litigation
  • General office and administrative skills
  • Ability to work in a small team
  • Theories of change
  • Working for an international human rights organisation
