Member Duties : Member duties include but are not limited to: Increasing the capacity of communities to address the emergency preparedness and response needs of local communities; Providing direct preparedness and health and safety training; Recruiting and managing youth and adult volunteers; Development, coordination and delivery of cultural and language appropriate preparedness training and educational resources; Working to enhance, strengthen and diversify the organizational partnerships working in preparedness and safety and strengthening their links with communities.
Possessing advanced capability or being bi-lingual in a second language is REQUIRED for our eight positions. Cantonese and Spanish preferred. Valid driver's license also REQUIRED. Commitment to your service term is important and we recommend that you do not carry another job or be enrolled in school while you are placed in the program.
Service Description : Members recruit, train and support youth and adult volunteers in Red Cross service activities as well as engage in direct service through community outreach and education focusing on preparedness and response. Members' time is spent providing the community with disaster training and preparedness. They also respond to local disaster calls to provide emergency assistance to families affected by disasters; serve on national disaster assignments, support American Red Cross relief efforts; and are involved in the American Red Cross Gateway to the Golden State Region's daily activities. The major responsibility of members is to increase the capacity of communities to address their emergency preparedness and response needs. There are eight positions available in our region which includes ten counties. Members should be prepared to be placed in any of our counties which include, Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Monterey, San Benito, Santa Cruz, San Mateo, San Francisco, Santa Clara, and Solano.
