We are currently recruiting for new Human Rights Committee (HRC) members. Our HRC is an advisory committee supporting individuals with psychiatric and/or developmental disabilities. This volunteer position is open to anyone 18 years and older that can make at least a one year commitment. Besides recruiting for our general committee, we are also recruiting for DOCTORS and/or NURSES and LAWYERS and/or LAW students. Volunteers evaluate the human rights program within the agency and monitor compliance with state regulation mainly through attendance at committee meetings and visiting residential and day programs in the metro and greater Boston area. Volunteers will be asked to visit and speak with the people we serve in these programs. Training is provided.
Candidates should be available 3 to 4 hours a month to attend a monthly Wednesday evening meetings, review documentation and/or participate in site visits in Greater Boston and the surrounding area including the Taunton, Middleboro areas. A CORI and two reference checks will be done.
