Volunteer Opportunity description

Web Design Volunteer

The Kirkland Arts Center (KAC) is seeking a skilled and creative web/graphic designer to modify and develop the organization's existing Kirkland Artist Studio Tours website. The position advances KAC's event marketing efforts to better serve the community, and provides an excellent opportunity to work with professional staff in a dedicated fast-paced non-profit arts organization. This position reports to the Development Manager and works closely with other members of the Arts Center's administrative staff on various aspects of design and production. The commitment is 4-12 hours a week, with a schedule to be determined at the convenience of the volunteer.

Responsibilities

  • The web designer will be responsible for producing an updated visual design for the existing Kirkland Artist Studio Tour (KAST), in accordance with the KAC Event Timeline. KAST 2013 is held on May 11-12, so the volunteer must be willing to dedicate time at least up to this point.
  • A successful candidate will collaborate and brainstorm with KAC staff on the current design of the website's structure and appearance, and assist with updating the site while adhering to an understanding of the mission, vision and branding of KAST and KAC.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in web design, and familiarity with relevant software
  • An understanding of how web-based technologies apply to web design
  • Highly capable of managing deadlines and producing deliverables on time
  • Degree in design-related field desired, but not required.
