VOLUNTEER TO BE A COMPUTER LITERACY TEACHING AIDE!
Volunteers needed to help in basic computer literacy class for janitors and other service workers.
Our Organization: The Building Skills Partnership (BSP) is a statewide non-profit collaboration between the Californian janitors' union (SEIU-USWW), community leaders, and responsible businesses to build a strong future for building service workers, their families, and communities by advancing skills, opportunities, and self-sufficiency.
Volunteer Skill Requirements: • Patience, enthusiasm, and respect for other cultures. • Dependability and flexibility. • Basic Spanish speaking skills are helpful. • Proficiency with basic computer functions and Microsoft Office.
Responsibilities: • Support instructor by helping students in a multi-level computer class. Guide students in activities such as using a mouse, opening an email account, browsing the Internet, and creating a flyer on MS Word. • Need to be able to commit to at attending at least one class a month • No class preparation required
When: Computer Literacy class is Saturdays from 9:30am-4:00pm

Benefits: As a volunteer at BSP you will receive training and gain experience teaching basic computer skills, gain knowledge about the issues facing newcomer families, and learn about the social services and other resources available to immigrants and low-wage workers in the Bay Area counties. BSP has 501(c)(3) status, and volunteer hours can count towards fulfilling certain community service requirements.
