Volunteer Opportunity description

Wetland's Enrichment Tours, or WET, is a specially designed educational program aimed at bringing the Hermitage's living shoreline restoration to life for students. The program, offered to students in grades four through six, teaches what a wetland is, creatures and features of wetlands, why wet lands are important, and the flood buffering and filtering effects of wetlands.

WET Docents are expected to:

  • Present information based on the Virginia Standards of Learning
  • Assist students with hands on learning projects involving the wetlands
  • Teach students and other visitors about the wetlands
  • Be knowledgeable about the Hermitage Museum & Gardens as a whole including who we are, what we do, and why it is important
