Social Tap, Inc.'s mission is to provide programs and services through grassroots partnerships to address the identified and emerging needs of at-risk, vulnerable, and exploited populations, including those displaced either by natural and/or man-made disasters internationally in developing countries.
We seek to provide a comprehensive Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach utilizing social capital to fill the gaps and provide support through networks encouraging transparency, effective communication, evaluation, and collaboration in order to create and reinforced sustainable communities.
Position Description
The Deputy Director plays a crucial role in building The Haiti Initiative's capacity and infrastructure related to ground initiatives in Haiti. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Deputy Director will have both internal and external facing responsibilities, ranging from partner and project management to administration and human capital. The Deputy Director will partner closely with the Executive Director to chart The Haiti Initiative's future growth and strategic response to an ever-increasing demand for the organization's services.
Responsibilities
- Project development, management
- Structure teams and lead Field Organizers in conducting outreach to and maintaining relationships with local allies and partner organizations
- Build and maintain strong relationships both internally and externally
- Represent The Haiti Initiative in industry-group conferences, professional associations and other public venues
- Develop thought leadership around The Haiti Initiatives core areas of development, thoroughly incorporating research of best practices within each field
- Complete weekly activity reports indicating progress towards goals within each core area
- Share in knowledge dissemination, reporting and communications
- Partner with the Executive Director in all human resources, administration and organizational planning activities
- Manage increasing segments of information technology and human resources with related communications, reporting and finance duties
- Improve internal systems with an eye towards future needs and budget realities
Qualifications
- Passionate about the The Haiti Initiative's mission and impact and in alignment with the long-term vision of Social Tap as an organization
- Highly intelligent, advanced degree form a leading university preferred
- Track record of delivering superior results and assuming leadership roles
- Demonstrated success in roles requiring execution of multiple tasks while responding to multiple priorities
- Proven ability to work in intercultural and international environments with efficiency, flexibility and good humor
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide array of people-- junior and senior, for-profit and nonprofit, and from diverse backgrounds
- Outstanding written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills are essential
- Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in organizational settings
- Transparent, direct, with substance
- Self-starter, self-disciplined
- Remain focused in the face of pressure, delivers against timelines, not intimidated by tasks/time limitations
- Knowledge of Creole a plus
Educational Requirements
- Bachelors degree plus 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
