Description

Opportunity: Youth Sports Class Volunteer

About Us: This year, the Hunterdon County YMCA celebrates 110 years of service in Hunterdon County and continues to play a vital role in the livelihood of community residents, providing programs that teach values, build self-esteem, and provide structured educational, recreational, social and wellness alternatives. The YMCA represents one of the few places in the community where people of different cultures, religious, ethnic origins and income levels come together on an equal footing for the good of all.

Currently, the Hunterdon County YMCA operates two wellness and fitness centers, youth sports, adult fitness and sports, youth and adult aquatics, three day camps, family programs, teen leadership and senior recreation and fitness programs. The Y oversees preschool programs and school aged child care consisting of before and after school programs throughout the county.

We believe that lasting personal and social change can only come about when we all work together to invest in our kids, our health and our neighbors. That's why, at the Y, strengthening community is our cause. Every day, we work side by side with our neighbors in our community to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Financial assistance keeps the Y available for kids and families who need us most. We count on the generosity of our members and community to help people of all ages and from all walks of life be more healthy, confident, connected and secure.

Description of Duties: Volunteers are expected to participate in sports class activities as directed by YMCA staff; maintain equipment and materials in an orderly and safe manner; assist with the set up of the activity in advance of the children's arrival; clean up after children's departure; and show a positive and encouraging attitude when working with the program.

Experience or Skills Required: Volunteers must be 12+ years old and exhibit energy, enthusiasm, and above all else, a positive attitude.

Time Commitment: Youth Sports classes take place at several different times of day, days of week, and at both of our branches. For more information on specific classes, contact Jenn Attridge at 908-236-7879, ext. 4326.
