Center For Family Services (CFS) is a large and exciting nonprofit human services agency based in Camden City, NJ. CFS provides counseling, parenting education, substance abuse treatment, safe and supportive housing, early childhood education, and crisis intervention to children, individuals, and families throughout New Jersey. Due to recent growth/expansion, CFS is seeking support from AmeriCorps VISTAs to build the capacity of our administrative infrastructure, as well as the infrastructure of new programs.

The KIPP Outreach and Enrichment Specialist VISTA will be responsible for conducting community outreach and developing enrichment programs and systems to increase the impact KIPP has on Camden students. Specifically, as our network of schools grows and is able to serve more students, the Outreach and Enrichment specialist will help develop and execute our strategy for informing parents and students that they have an opportunity to attend our school. This VISTA member will also lead the design and implementation of key enrichment programs in our school – including our first afterschool program. The afterschool program will help meet the needs of both students and families by ensuring that students are participating in safe, engaging, and enriching activities in after school hours. This opportunity is perfect for someone interested in pursuing a career in education, education administration, community development, or public policy. A housing stipend is available for the VISTA member serving with KIPP.

As the AmeriCorps VISTA – KIPP Outreach and Enrichment Specialist, you will: 1) Design, launch, and lead an afterschool program for KIPP Primary students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade. 2) Work with student recruitment team to design and execute a student outreach and enrollment strategy for our growing network of Renaissance schools. 3) In close collaboration with the School Operations team, develop and improve campus operation systems. In this position, you will have the opportunity to create systems to increase enrollment in the KIPP school, created volunteer and student enrichment opportunities, improve the quality of education provided, and make a lasting impact on the educational success of Camden students! We look forward to working with someone who is driven to serve low-income minority students and who will work tirelessly to achieve the project goals. This position requires pre-service drug screening and criminal background checks.
