ENGLISH AND CREATIVE ARTS VOLUNTEERS
Interested in learning new skills while helping others? Volunteering introduces you to new people and cultures, giving you invaluable experience that will enhance or influence your future career.
WWI-Ghana is an independent organization offering volunteering opportunities to prospective international volunteers all over Ghana.
The volunteer project English and Creative Arts seeks to provide opportunities for school children to learn English Language through child centered activities based on the children educational manual using creative arts as a strategy.
The volunteer project seeks to promote various teaching styles that strive to meet the needs of children in their performance.
Preference will be given to International Volunteers who demonstrate the ability to teach English using creative arts as a strategy.
Each morning you will arrive for breakfast with the team at 7-8am and start your morning session which is from 8am - 12pm.
Morning sessions will be divided into 3 parts with a variety of tasks including outdoor exercises and games, arts and crafts, story-telling, music and drama activities.
You will have an hour from 12 - 1pm to enjoy lunch (optional) before starting the afternoon session which could include supervised free play, assistance with homework or working with some children.
At 4pm in the afternoon you will be required (OPTIONAL) to spend an hour or two each day with the team, preparing for the next days' lessons
No qualifications are required.
However, volunteers should be
• Willing to work in groups and with local people.
• Willing to work with other volunteers from different countries.
• Culturally adaptable
No skills are required. English teaching experience, physiotherapy, psychology, teaching, childcare or nursing skills, social work, creative arts, and community work can always be put to good use if available. Project staff speaks English and are available to help translate if and when required into various local dialect where applicable.
This project is not physically demanding but volunteers should make sure their health is in good order.
Ability to speak fluent English would be advantageous but not compulsory.
Volunteers will be required to:
1. Give underprivileged children a chance to learn effectively from them, showcase their talents and give these children a tool for a successful adult life.
2. Help children develop life skills, social skills, communication and leadership skills to the successful adult building for a sustainable community of tomorrow using creative arts as a strategy to effectively learn the English Language.
