About DiabetesSisters DiabetesSisters is a national 501c3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve the health and quality of life of women with, and those at risk of developing, diabetes; and to advocate on their behalf. The organization exists to serve, connect, and educate, and support thousands of women around the world through online and in-person support and education programs/services. Special focus is placed on the empowerment of women with diabetes due to the specific issues and health risks faced by this population.
About the Position Through DiabetesSisters’ SisterTALK Blogs, a network of women share their thoughts and feelings about living life with diabetes in weekly blogs. This blogging position is an opportunity to share your unique experience with Type 2 Diabetes with the rest of the DiabetesSisters’ community by documenting the ups and downs. Your perspective and experience is an invaluable resource to the community as other women also seek to navigate and understand life with diabetes.
Responsibilities
- Personally responsible for posting weekly to the Type 2 Blog
- Select relevant experiences from daily life experiences to share with the community
- Report to, and collaborate with, the Blog Team Manager as needed
Time Commitment
Serve 8-10 hours a month
Qualifications and Experience
Communication
- Strong language and communication skills (written and oral)
- Desire to share experience with the DiabetesSisters community
Commitment to service
- Community service experience
- Ability to fulfill a long-term volunteer commitment
