RENTERS' ADVOCACY
Volunteer Opportunity
Renters in Oregon are really having a tough time right now with rising rents,
substandard housing conditions, housing foreclosures, unfair laws, and unfair
landlords. Everyone deserves a safe, stable and decent place to call home.
The Community Alliance of Tenants (CAT), Oregon's only grassroots renters' rights
organization, runs a hotline which educates and empowers renters to solve their rental
problems. We are inviting you to come and volunteer on the renters' rights hotline!
CAT will be giving a Renters' Rights Hotline training in early February. This will be
a lively and informative training. Learn how to advocate for yourself and others! The
hotline is staffed by volunteers who are also renters like you!
If you like helping people, are interested in social justice, or want to develop new skills,
this is a great opportunity!
Additionally, a more advanced training consisting of a 3 hour tutorial on Oregon
Landlord/Tenant Law will be given by a Legal Aid lawyer after you have mastered the
basics.
