Wisdom of the Elders, Inc. (Wisdom), a Native American non profit corporation located in SE Portland, is seeking volunteers to transcribe a few recordings of Native American elders. We have deadlines to complete transcriptions of a few video productions and so we are looking for someone who can help us within the next week or two. These recordings are very compelling stories from the heart of treasured Native American elders who are stepping forward to help younger generations with understanding about environmental and climate change issues. All of the recordings have been broken into one hour segments, so that a fast typist could complete one of these recording segments within 4-5 hours.
This project is for the Wisdom of the Elders Radio Program. We are producing our fourth series on sustainability response of 8 NW tribes to unprecedented environmental degradation and a changing climate. Wisdom's mission is the preservation of Native Americans' rich heritage and traditional cultural arts. We record and preserve story, song and wisdom of exemplary storytellers, song carriers and other cultural artists and share their messages with native people, especially targeting youth. With our mission of race reconciliation, we also reach out to today's increasingly diverse multi-generational national public audience.
Thanks for considering our request. Please contact Ethan at intern@wisdomoftheelders.org.
