East LA Community Corporation is seeking VITA Volunteers. ELACC's Volunteers will help families and individuals access vital credits and refunds during the tax season. ELACC's IRS-certified volunteers provide free income tax preparation assistance to qualified individuals that earned less than $51,000 in 2013. Volunteers help inform taxpayers of special tax credits such as Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit, and Credit for Elderly or the Disabled. ELACC's VITA sites are located in the communities of Boyle Heights and Unincorporated East Los Angeles.
Greeter: As the primary point of contact, greeters play a major role in providing quality services; primarily check-in clients at large scale events.
Screener: Ensure that individuals seeking free tax preparation services possess the necessesary documents to complete a tax return; meet income eligibility guidelines; and provide general support to volunteer tax preparers.
Intake Specialist: Helps participants fill out and prepare necessary paperwork to complete their tax return.
Runner: Scans participants' tax documents for record-keeping purposes.
Tax Preparer*: Provides free income tax preparation services to taxpayers.

Interpreters: Serves as translator for client(s). Spanish preferred
Office Intern: Schedules appointments and refers clients to ELACC services
Credit Specialist: Helps participants access and obtain a free copy of their credit report.
The VITA program runs from January to mid-April of 2014. Required volunteer training are provided in December and January.
