VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO START FROM FEBRUARY/MARCH/APRIL 2013 and throughout the year. Yearoutindia is looking for enthusiastic individuals with an interest in Teaching, Community Development and Child Welfare to live and teach at our rural partner schools set high up in the beautiful Western Ghat mountain ranges in South India.

You can be a refreshing change in the classroom teaching students from elementary through to high school. With most programs you can volunteer as an "English Teacher", Creative Arts Teacher or run a variety of Sports events. Flexibility and resourcefulness will be a valuable trait.

Even if you've never formally taught a classroom subject, you can contribute in many ways including school renovations and improving infrastructure. Teaching work involves you assisting the local teachers in their day to day work at the school. You don't need to know the local language or the methods of the local school system. All you need is enthusiasm and a desire to share your knowledge with these children. The outcome could easily be the most rewarding volunteering experience of your life.

Weekends and placement breaks can usually be used to travel and experience the colourful culture, festivals, sights, history, tradition, numerous temples and the many beautiful beaches of Kerala.

Placements are matched to the volunteers interests or experience; either renovation work or classroom based teaching, including time availability and any specific school needs. Only 2-4 volunteer placement positions available per school at any particular time.

Program Costs: Fair Program Fee Policy Prices for individual programs vary based on number of volunteers on site and project needs. On average, a 4 week ALL inclusive placement fee is between GBP £550 - £650 (USD $875-$1050). Once the actual project costs are worked out for each placement, a portion of this fees is given back to the volunteer to spend directly on the project. Yearoutindia cost based fees are by far the most fair & inclusive of any volunteer placement by any organisation in India. We are a not-for-profit volunteering organisation very different from the many other commercial gap year companies. Please contact a volunteer coordinator for a detailed fee/cost breakdown.

The volunteer service program fee is used to support the volunteer, the local projects and the service program overall. The service program fee for volunteering service programs in South India INCLUDES Orientation, All food (3-4 meals a day), all bottled water, Accommodation, Project travel + a lot more based on individual program requirements. The balance goes towards other projects and maintenance. Volunteers will also assist the YOI staff in managing the funds and paying daily wages and materials needed for the building work etc.

VOLUNTEERS WILL GET A PORTION OF THEIR FEES BACK TO SPEND ON PROJECT MATERIALS REQUIRED FOR THE WORK.

There are NO admin fees, although a charge is deducted in case of last minute (really really late) cancellations of placement.What's NOT covered in the service program fee?
