Volunteer Opportunity description

We have exciting volunteer opportunities for any interested community members to become Docents at our new nature center, the EcoCenter, located in the heart of the Palo Alto Baylands Nature Preserve.

The Environmental Volunteers is an environmental education and outreach organization that has been serving San Mateo and Santa Clara counties for over 40 years. We recently restored and opened the former Sea Scout base into a beautiful nature center to help create community access and learning opportunities for visitors to this unique place.

We will be holding a training session on Saturday, March 2nd and March 9th from 1pm - 5pm (must attend both sessions) at the EcoCenter. We will give you all of the training that you need to help you interact with visitors, engage them about nature, and share your love of the environment.

We have flexible shifts for volunteers to engage in on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 11am - 1:30pm and Saturdays from 10am - 12:30pm and 12:30pm - 3pm

We have lots of nature materials, exhibits, activities, binoculars, touchscreens and things to get people excited about the environment, and we hope you will be too by joining us at our upcoming training.

The EcoCenter is located at 2560 Embarcadero Rd., Palo Alto, CA 94303

The fee for training is $25 and we offer scholarships for those that need it.
