Social Media Coordinator (Volunteer Position)

The Advocate Center for Culture and Education, (located at 18th and Diamond Street), is currently seeking a creative, detailed-oriented and tech-savvy Social Media Coordinator to manage its day-to-day social media needs.

Our Work & Mission:

The Advocate Center unites community residents, volunteers, churches, service providers and educational institutions in a cooperative effort of mutual support and learning to improve the life prospects and well-being of North Philadelphia residents.​ Through collaborative partnerships with local organizations and core partners including Art Sanctuary, Arts4All, ArtWell, and Mighty Writers, the Center operates the Advocate Leadership Institute (ALI) which is composed of rigorous, semester-long classes after school for Philadelphia youth who are committed to developing skills and knowledge in the performing and visual arts, writing, athletics, leadership and social justice. Currently, The Advocate Center seeks to address the needs of the community holistically through dynamic, interdisciplinary programming that engages the whole person. The Advocate Center is housed at the historic Church of the Advocate.

Roles and Responsibilities:

The Social Media Coordinator reports to the Program Coordinator, and will be instrumental in helping to maintain ACCE's online presence and visibility. The Social Media Coordinator is responsible for, but not limited to the following duties:

  • Managing and developing content for ACCE's social media accounts (Facebook/Instagram/Twitter)
  • Researching audience preferences and discover current trends
  • Creating engaging text, image and video content
  • Designing posts to sustain readers' curiosity and create buzz around new programs and workshops
  • Developing and maintaining ACCE's social media calendar and posting schedule
  • Designing flyers and other materials to promote programs, workshops and special events
  • Communicate and collaborate with ACCE staff, students and partners to ensure cohesive messaging

Qualifications:

A successful candidate will have the following skills:

  • Passion for youth and education
  • Excellent communication and time-management skills; Ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Demonstrated and working knowledge of social media platforms and trends
  • Familiarity with social media management platforms (i.e., Hootsuite, Buffer)
  • 1+ years of college-level/professional experience

Position Details:

The Social Media Coordinator is a volunteer position. Flexible scheduling available, but preference will be given to candidates available to work afternoons and some evenings.
