Position Summary: During the run of the featured exhibit MythBusters, February 8 to May 5, 2013, Greeter volunteers at the exhibit entrance will inform visitors of exhibit rules, answer questions about the layout of the exhibit, and direct visitors to educator staff for answers to questions related to the content of the exhibit.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Greet visitors and welcome them to the MythBusters exhibit.
- Inform visitors that food and drink are not allowed in the exhibit.
- Let visitors know where they may enjoy food or beverages elsewhere in the museum.
- Inform visitors about photo opportunities and photo-prohibited areas of the exhibit.
- Assist visitors with understanding the layout of the exhibit and provide information about daily events associated with the exhibit.
Qualifications:
- Able to provide excellent customer service while enforcing rules.
- Eager to work with children, adults and school groups.
- Able to speak in public and respond to visitor inquiries.
- Able to maintain a calm, pleasant, and cheerful demeanor in a loud environment.
- Able to listen and communicate with people of diverse backgrounds and ages.
- Must present a professional appearance.
- Dependable and punctual.
- Self-directed and willing to take initiative.
- Willing to follow OMSI rules and procedures.
