Volunteer Opportunity description

Design your own volunteer experience by managing the yards at one of our group homes to support those with developmental disabilities. As a Gardening Guru, you can help us transform nasty leaves and unruly bushes into new flower beds and gardens. In the past, Gardening Gurus have planted a vegetable garden and restored flower beds. Because our clients enjoy the views of their yards, the actions of a Gardening Guru will certainly bring a smile to their faces!

To protect the identities of our residents, a background check is required prior to volunteering with us. Our ideal candidate for this position is someone who:

  • Enjoys being outside while working in their own yard.
  • Preferably has experience as gardening or landscaping.
  • Doesn't mind getting dirty or sweaty.
  • Has reliable transportation.
  • Can volunteer at least three hours a month.
  • Can participate in new volunteer orientation on a Saturday morning.
