The mission of the Food Bank of South Jersey (FBSJ) is to provide an immediate solution to the urgent problem of hunger by providing food to people in need, teaching them to eat nutritiously, and helping them to find sustainable ways to improve their lives. The AmeriCorps VISTA Fund Development Assistant will work with the FBSJ marketing team to develop and implement systems to build capacity for fund development and community engagement in order to support and expand quality services to food insecure families in South Jersey. This position will support a wide range of initiatives throughout the organization, so the applicant must be an upbeat self-starter, organized and enjoy a fast-paced work environment. AmeriCorps VISTA members leave with a valuable experience for resumes and a professional portfolio.
The Fund Development VISTA will: 1) Work with corporate relations manager to research and compile list of South Jersey-based corporations and retailers with whom FBSJ could potentially partner with to conduct a Check Out Hunger program and carry out said initiative. 2) Work with special events manager to develop resources to support fundraising efforts and engage community partners, specifically relating to third party events and fundraisers. 3) Research, develop and implement Hunger Action Month plan with assistance of the marketing working group. This position requires pre-service drug screening and criminal background checks.
