Our programs help students of all ages cultivate their chess skills and promote academic achievement, emotional development, professional growth, and important social skills.

During 2012, Chess in the Schools:

- Taught approximately 13,000 New York City public school students to play chess through classroom instruction and after-school clubs.

- Trained 265 public school educators to bring chess instruction into their classrooms and organize after-school chess clubs in their schools.

- Organized 32 scholastic chess tournaments and related events throughout New York City, engaging thousands of students.

- Provided 124 high school students with college preparation services, helping them move onto the next grade, graduate on time, and apply for college.
